Best Place to Teach English in Korea -
Travel Guide Ideas. The salaries in South Korea are amongst the best on offer in the whole of Asia. Schools have been in need of English teachers for around the past decade and many of them are now well versed in hiring TEFL/TESOL teachers, offering exceptionally good packages. Most schools offer:
- free or subsidised accommodation
- a free return airfare
- a month’s wage as a bonus upon completion of a one year contract
- free meals at school
All of this coupled with a relatively low cost of living, even in the major cities like Seoul, meaning that you stand to make significant savings!
Hi, I am going to teach English in S.Korea and would like to know where the best town, village or city would be to apply for a position.
I love theatre, ballet, symphony concerts, but also want to be able to walk on the beach before my classes start in the morning, and go into the mountains and enjoy nature over weekends.
Furthermore, I want to earn the maximum while there and understnd that the villages/rural areas pay extra.
Unfortunately I cannot ride a motorbike, so public transport and my feet, or a taxi, will have to do....because I also have no sense of direction and get lost very easily.
Please advise?
Thank you.

christy093 -> Hi!
I am a former teacher (who is going back soon). I am familiar with Seoul, Busan and Ulsan. Anyways, it might be hard to fulfill all of your wants. You may want to decide what is most important for you. Seoul is the only place that gets a steady stream of theater and ballet, especially in English. Busan will occasionally get some. You are in luck with symphony concerts because Koreans are mad for classical music and you can go to a concert frequently in most urban centers. Korea is 80% mountains. Basically, finding a mountain anywhere is not hard. The best beaches are in Southeastern Korea. Busan is known for there beaches. You would be hard to find a decent beach in the Seoul area (and it tends to be colder there also). Anyways, when I read your posting my thought was that Busan would probably provide the most of what you want. Unless, you really want axcess to theater. But even if this is what you want keep in mind that Korea is a small country and weekend trips to Seoul are pretty easy and cheap from anywhere in Korea. Hope this helps!

I am from Sydney - a mature aged female with a BA degree (English and History majors) from the University of Sydney.
I saw an advertisement for short term English language teaching in South Korea. (Just in January for a camp.) I do not have any teaching experience, but this advertisement said that none was required.
I noticed that you said you had been there. The names of the places mentioned were Jochiwon, Goyang and Ulsan.
I have done a little (very little) research and wondered your personal opinion on this. How does one know who is or is not a reputable recruiter? Any other information would be very much appreciated.
PS. I presume it would be pretty cold in January in Korea.
