Busan Christmas Tree Festival (부산크리스마스트리문화축제)
The Busan Christmas Tree Festival, Busan's annual winter event, will be held in the Gwangbok-ro area of the Jung-gu District in Busan. To add a more festive atmosphere, there will be concerts, a tree of wishes, street performances, collecting love coins, a photo and video contest, and many more.
Seondeung Festival (선등문화제)
Seondeung Festival takes place on Seondeung Street, with lights and lanterns in the shape of Sancheoneo (mountain trout) that illuminate the street with a soft glow.
Seondeung literally means "The lights showing the world in which a taoist hermit is living." It also means a place of "3 rak (joy)," representing the joy of becoming a taoist hermit, having a beautiful heart and constitution, and receiving a lot of luck.
The lighting of Seondeung Street is the opening event of the Hwacheon Sancheoneo (Mount Trout) Ice Festival, and includes a ceremony for New Year's wishes. In addition to the lighting ceremony, there are also various performances, a photo contest, an exhibition of traditional lights around the world and wish-writing on postcards, along with many other events every week of the festival.
Lighting Festival (오색별빛정원전)
Held at the Garden of Morning Calm, the Lighting Festival is the biggest festival of lights in Korea, covering 100 thousand pyeong illuminated by 30,000 lights. The gleaming lights add a festive glow to the garden during the winter season. The main gardens are Hakyung Garden, Hometown House Garden, Bonsai Garden, Moonlight Garden, Sky Path and Garden of Eden, with colorful lights adorning the trees. In the event of inclement weather, lights may be turned off for safety.
Byeokchoji Botanical Garden Lighting Festival (벽초지수목원빛축제)
Located in Gwangtan-myeon, Paju-si, Gyeonggi-do, the Botanical Garden BCJ opened on September 9, 2005, covering an area of about 132,230㎡. The garden is home to 1,420 species of plants that includes 100 arbor species, 200 bush species, 600 native plant species, 70 aquatic plant species, 150 annual plants species and 300 perennial plant species.
During the festival, there will be two million LED lights decorating the trees and animal light sculptures. Visitors can enjoy the Iillumanating Queen's Garden, Aurora Forest, Maple Road and Melody House. Also, the western style "Love's Proposal" area is available to use as an event venue for wedding proposals.
